Bellagio is a premium location on Lake Como, celebrated by artists and poets. It is a luxurious place full of history, cherished by famous people from all-over the world. Tessabit, one of the most famous shopping destinations in Como and surroundings, has just opened right here a new boutique, entirely designed by award-winning architect and designer Patricia Urquiola.
“It’s a project that was born to communicate with nature and the landscape”, says Patricia Urquiola.
“A place for gatherings, where you can feel at ease and truly embrace the essence of the lake, restless and ever-changing”. The new store is facing Manzoni Lake and the charming Serbelloni Stairway. 13 windows let the light in and spread it throughout dichroic glass panels, which create a striking lighting effects and kinetic polychrome shadows. “The light spreads across the room with different intensity depending on the time of the day, according to the glow of sky and water. This idea has been conceived as a way to merge outdoors, indoors and nature”.
This collaboration is meant to be a celebration of what Tessabit stands for. “I strongly believe that the physical retailer is becoming more and more important. It’s no longer just a place to shop – states Andrea Molteni, CEO of Tessabit – but it also needs to be a tangible experience and space to meet with our clients and their needs”.
The interiors are partially crafted from innovative, recycled materials, such as fiberglass, a choice that speaks about love and respect for the land we live in and outlines Urquiola’s approach to circular economy. Trimmings are iridescent and metallic. The main colour palette is pink, a shade that reminds of sunsets at the lake, and green, just like the water that sometimes turns into greys and blues according to the sky. There are also two lounging areas with a sofa and two armchairs, designed to conceive an atmosphere of conviviality and time for resting.
“After designing Tessabit boutique in Menaggio, the one in Bellagio is the natural continuation of a partnership and friendship with the Molteni Family, skilled entrepreneurs who have really understood how to marry physical experience with digital and sustainable. They have proved that innovation doesn’t necessarily annihilate personal touch, but can easily become a way to amplify it”.
In order to celebrate this special collaboration, as well as the opening of the new Bellagio Boutique, Patrcicia Urquiola has worked with Off-White on a limited edition (only 30 units) design of bag. The capsule Off-White™ c/o Patricia Urquiola is exclusive to Tessabit, both in store and online. “We have designed something to refelect the mood of the store. The project has come together very naturally”, says Patricia Urquiola. “Me and Virgil have always wanted to collaborate, and we thought that Tessabit was a great opportunity to do so”.
The bag is a special iteration of the iconic Off-White™ Jitney Bag in a new texture. Its high-frequency print is a nod to the 3D walls inside the boutique. A design that also features the classic arrow-shaped lock, emblem of the Maison. Another element that adds to the collaboration is the additional scarf in vibrant tones that can be styled on the top handle of the bag.
